Asher is a tool that helps pastors turn Sunday sermons into a 5-day Bible study for their congregations. This page explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.
What we collect
From pastors: the sermon notes you paste into Asher, the name of your church, and optionally an email address if you want to receive a copy of what you publish.
From attendees who opt in: an email address (only if they choose to receive daily devotional emails) and basic engagement data such as whether they opened a daily email.
That is the whole list. We do not track location, device fingerprints, or third-party advertising identifiers.
How we use it
We use what you give us to do exactly what you would expect:
- Generate daily devotionals from your sermon notes (using Anthropic Claude)
- Deliver those devotionals to attendees who opted in
- Show you which days are getting engagement
- Keep the service running (errors, performance)
We do not sell your data. We do not share attendee email lists with any third party. We do not use your sermon content to train AI models. Anthropic processes your content via API but does not use it for training.
Sermon notes: how long we keep them
We retain your sermon notes only as long as the corresponding devotional is being actively delivered (the active week, plus 30 days for late-arriving attendees). After that, the original sermon notes are deleted from our servers. The published devotional content (the AI-generated days that you reviewed and approved) is retained as long as your church URL is active.
You can request immediate deletion of any sermon by emailing fletcher.stob@gmail.com.
Attendee emails
If an attendee opts in for daily delivery, we store their email and send them days 2 through 5 of the current sermon. They can unsubscribe with one click from any email. Once unsubscribed, the email is permanently deleted from our system within 30 days.
We do not sell, share, or rent attendee email lists. Not to advertisers, not to other churches, not to anyone.
AI processing
Sermon notes you paste into Asher are sent to Anthropic Claude via API to generate the devotional content. Anthropic's privacy policy and zero-data-retention terms apply to that processing. We configure the API integration with the strictest privacy options available: no training data retention, no caching beyond the immediate generation.
Cookies
We use only essential cookies necessary for the service to function. No analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, no third-party trackers.
Children
Asher is intended for use by church staff (typically pastors) and adult congregation members. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
Changes
If we update this policy, we will update the “Effective” date at the top. Material changes will be communicated to active customers by email.
